Academic Rules

Academic Rules & Regulations :

1. Attendance : 

A candidate is required to attend at least 80 % of the total classes conducted in a year in all subjects prescribed for that year, separately, in theory & practical/ clinical to become eligible to appear for the university examination in the first attempt.

2. Internal assessment :

  • There will be two (2) internal examinations during I, II, III & IV year. Distribution of 20 marks in internal is as follow :

    a. Internal examination marks (theory and practical separately)- 10 marks
    b. Attendance: 5 marks (3 marks for 80% to 90% and 5 marks for >90%)
    c. Seminar presentation, workshops and conferences attended and discipline: 5 marks

  • A candidate must obtain a 35% marks in theory and practical separately in internal assessment to be eligible to write the university examination.

  • Any student who fails in paper (s) of an academic year may re-appear for Internal Assessment Examination of the failed paper(s) again to improve the internal assessment marks.

3. Promotion criteria/ Carry over system :

  • It is not mandatory to pass in 1st year BPT examination to proceed to 2nd year BPT class. However, it is mandatory to pass in all subjects of 1st year to be conducted in the month of February, to be eligible to appear for regular 2nd year BPT university examination.

  • It is not mandatory to pass in 2ndyear BPT examination to proceed to 3rdyear BPT class.However, it is mandatory to pass in all subjects of 2ndyear to be conducted in the month of February, to be eligible to appear for regular 3rdyear BPT university examination.

  • It is not mandatory to pass in 3rdyear BPT examination to proceed to 4th year BPT class.However, it is mandatory to pass in all subjects of 3rd year to be conducted in the month of February, to be eligible to appear for regular 4th year BPT university examination.

  • A candidate cannot be declared to have passed the examination until he/she passed in all the subjects in that particular examination. 

4. Declaration of class :

  • A candidate having appeared in all the PAPERS in the same examination and passed that examination in the first attempt and secure 75% of marks or more of grand total marks prescribed will be declared to have passed the examination in First Class with distinction.

  • A candidate having appeared in all the PAPERS in the same examination and passed that examination in the first attempt and secure 60 % of marks or more but less than 75% ofgrand total marks prescribed will be declared to have passed the examination in First Class.

  • A candidate having appeared in all the PAPERS in the same examination and passed that examination in the first attempt and secure 50 % of marks or more but less than 60% of grand total marks prescribed will be declared to have passed the examination in Second Class.

  • A candidate passing university examination in more than one attempt shall be placed in Pass class irrespective of the percentage of marks secured by him/her in the examination.

5. Internship :

  • A candidate who will be successful at the final examination shall be required to undergo compulsory rotating internship. 

  • Internship should be rotatory and cover Physiotherapy as well as clinical branches concerned with physiotherapy such as Orthopaedics, Cardiothoracic including ICU, Neurology, Paediatrics including NICU, General medicine, General surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology both in indoor and outdoor patient services.

    The 6 month of rotational posting must be covered in the following pattern:

    Physiotherapy OPD(Including paediatrics and OBG wards)  1 month
    Orthopaedics ward 1 month
    General medicine wards (including NICU & ICCU)  1 month
    General surgery wards (including CTS wards, CTS-ICU, Burns) 1 month
    Neurology & Neurosurgery wards (including Neuro ICU) 1 month
    Community Posting- [Geriatrics Homes, Fitness Centre, Special Schools, PHC etc]   1 month

6. Successful Completion:

  • Only after successful completion of Internship a candidate shall be admitted to the degree and will be awarded to him. 

  • A candidate must obtain a logbook. On completion of each posting, the same will have to be certified by the faculty in charge of the posting for both attendance as well as work done. On completion of internship the duly completed logbook will be submitted to the principal/ head of the program to be considered as having successfully completed the internship.

  • During the internship period the students is entitled to six casual leaves.

  • Duly approved “project work” must be submitted to the college office than only Principal can issue letter for Internship Completion Certificate at the end of 6th month of internship.
